Fire Extinguishers - will be checked again
those who did not have extinguishers before must have one this time or
face being sent home. For those who need one there will be
some available for purchase on the day - please ask the Chief Scrutineer
or at the table.
Race Order for 100, Senior, Junior, Novice, Auto,
85, Expert with the Novice & 85 groups to track clear
which is track, litter, gate and the gazebo. The race order
changes, sometimes quite radically, each meeting to suit the track
conditions (eg for a fresh green track send bigger bikes out first to
cut off the top), group sizes and quantity of clearing needed to be
done.
2 Dayer - donations wanted for this for the
goody bags.
01/07/08 The new copy deadline for any items for the programme is 11pm
Monday evening preceding race day.
20/06/08 The meeting on the 6th July which was to be at Matchams
will (because Matchams will be closed for bikes) now be at
Tincleton
near Dorchester, DT2 8QW .
11/06/08 Do you attend all of our race meetings, watch most of the
racing and would like to be exonerated from future marshalling duties?
If so, then you may be the person we are looking for to write a race
report which, as you may have noticed, have been thin on the
ground for the past year or so. Please contact any committee member to
discuss this. Results
from A&A.
Fire Extinguishers will be checked
rigorously at Bishopstone and riders who do not have the required
equipment ie a 1.5kg dry powder or equivalent will have to produce one
at the next meeting or risk being turned away.
05/06/08
The
July 2 dayer will be Members only with race
fees of Adult £70, Youth £56 and Auto £50. Booking in will be as per a
normal meeting ie by phone starting on the preceding Tuesday at 18.30.
Club Rule 24 has been
revised.
05/05/08 Novice group is now closed for new members -
although a waiting list is in operation.
18/04/08 The Kill Button checking at Bishopstone went very well and
so we hope to have similar success with Fire Extinguishers.
17/03/08 We have been advised by the YMSA that Expert riders
holding a YMSA Expert licence with another club will only be accepted
into our Expert group, and the same is true with Novice licence holders.

from first Championship Round. We're sorry that there is not a
race report. If you would like to be excused marshalling duties by
becoming our reporter then please contact any member of the committee
asap. We are also short of lapscorers this year - if you are interested
then please contact
Lynn.
Kill Buttons - from this weekend there will
be random checks made of these. Any bikes found with in-effective
switches will not be allowed to start the next race until it has been
corrected.
Fire Extinguishers - as per YMSA regulation
10.l any vehicle that brings along a race bike to the meeting must
have a fire extinguisher (minimum 1.5kg dry powder ) with the riders
name & group painted on. Random checks will also be made at all meetings
for compliance. Again, as per rule 10.l any rider non-complying will not
be allowed to ride.
Marshalling - there were several instances at
the last meeting where this was, generally, not of the standard
required. This is a very important function to the riders (and your own)
safety and efficient running of the meeting. Please take heed of the
instructions given you by the Chief Marshal and/or Clerk of the Course.
29/02/08 Booking In. Please remember
we all have full time jobs so if the phone is switched off or unanswered
it means we are probably at work or otherwise unable to be disturbed so try
again at another time. Thank you.
Matchams - the circuit will NOT be charging
for overnight camping BUT they will be charging a £3 admission fee for
each spectator vehicle.

progress this season and thus giving our riders an even wider coverage.

19/11/07 The news from the YMSA AGM is that 144s will be allowed in
our Senior and adult classes next year. All Voting Forms and
Presentation Ticket forms must be returned by the 15th December which is
not that long away now!

Autos - we have just been informed that next
year we are able to allow all autos with big wheels in the Auto class;
this includes KTMs with aftermarket big wheels.
2008 Membership will be £30 and £20 for each
subsequent family member. 2008 Race fees have yet to be set. The YMSA
have increased the licence fee for 2008 to £35.
24/10/07 Please note that 144s are not allowed at YMSA
meetings. To change this attend the
YMSA AGM on 11th November.
10/10/07 A reminder from the lapscorers. All bikes presented at
scrutineering must have the correct race numbers on all three
plates which must be clear, legible, unique and complete. Any not
meeting these requirements will be sent away having failed
scrutineering. This is essential to ensure the lap scorers do not
have the unnecessary hassle of deciphering them come the races.
Visitors must run with a clearly legible three digit number.

David Gane wishes
to thank all those who came to his assistance and have made
contact following his accident at foxhills. 'I spent 5 days in
Swindon hospital and I am now recovering at home. Unfortunately owing
to the extent of my injury i have been forced to hang up my good
boot for the rest of this season. But be assured I will be back in
2008. David'

from Matchams. Due to family commitments Claire Kirby has, with regret,
had to resign as Club Secretary and a member of the
committee.
The committee thanks her for the invaluable help and enthusiasm she has
provided this year.
The committee would like to re-iterate that the on the gate charges at
Matchams for spectators was nothing to do with the club and was as much
a shock to us as it was to yourselves. This was imposed by and went to
the landowner and not the club. On a similar note, we have been advised
that overnight camping at Matchams next year will be doubled to £10 per
vehicle.
For SatNav users the postcode for Foxhills
is
SN4 0DR. The race order will
be 85, 100, Exp, Auto, Sen, Jun, Nov with the Senior group to track
clear.
03/09/07 As there are now a maximum of 13 Championship rounds
this year, qualifying is now 7 rounds (as per
Local rule 3).
08/08/07 There is to be a meeting at 6pm tomorrow the 9th
where all interested parties in the future of Matchams are invited to
attend. It will be at St Leonards Village Hall, Braeside Road.
Also it would be in our interests if as many of us as possible lobby the
local councillors with polite reasoned arguments as to why the venue
should remain open. These are the contacts:
East Dorset Chairman -
Cllr Mrs B. T. Manuel -
cllr.bmanuel@eastdorsetdc.gov.uk
East Dorset Vice Chairman -
Cllr R. C. Dudman -
cllr.rdudman@eastdorsetdc.gov.uk
Council Leader
Cllr D. B. F. Burt -
cllr.dburt@eastdorsetdc.gov.uk
Planning Commitee Chairman-
Cllr M. R. Dyer -
cllr.mdyer@eastdorsetdc.gov.uk
13/07/07 Yes it's true, Paul can still ride and
here are the photos to prove it!
The event was the
SCEC evening enduro at Bere Regis
where he finished 6th in class and 69th overall.
11/07/07 Marshalling news - many of our numbered
marshall bibs have not been returned; please, if you have
inadvertently taken one home, bring them along to the next meeting or
hand to someone else to do so. These are crucial for safety
purposes so that the Clerk of the Course can easily identify that
marshalls are on their posts.
31/05/07 Tiverton in Devon has been booked for our meeting on
5th August. According to MS AutoRoute this is 89 miles from
Bournemouth or 74 miles from Blandford.
Refunds on the day. We have been advised by
our insurers that once a rider has signed on then the YMSA Insurance
element of the entry fee must be paid irrespective if a wheel has been
turned or not. Therefore in future refunds will be less this part
ie £3 for all youth and £5 adults. If riders are unsure of the track
then it is in their interests to arrive early to walk or look at the
track first before signing on.
Now that Seniors is reverting back to 40
riders they now have their own dedicated booking in number which has no
answer machine so if it is engaged keep trying!
18/05/07 The landowner of Henstridge has asked us to pay the track hire fee to his chosen charity
Cancer and Leukemia In Childhood.
This will be handed over, together with a top-up from
club funds, at a presentation on Sunday by a representative of the
club.
11/05/07 Following some recent incidents the committee would like
to emphasise the club's ruling on Pushbikes, Dogs, Child Protection,
Lap Scorers, Track Clearing and Track Walking. Please
see here.
17/04/07 Table results are NOT the definitive fully
checked results so do NOT hassle the lapscorers/officials on race day if
you think there is a discrepancy. Once all the lap scorers sheets
have been fully checked and validated the correct results will be posted
to the website. This is a time consuming task which cannot be
achieved on race day; a task not made easy by riders using inappropriate
size, location, font and reflectivity of numbers, borrowing bikes such
that two bikes in a race have the same numbers, not advising officials
that they have borrowed a bike etc.
Drinking & Riding - the committee are
concerned that some adult riders may well be drinking the night before
racing. Ongoing at both one-day and two-day meetings we may ask riders
to submit to a breath test if we think their behaviour, riding or breath
has been affected by drinking. A refusal to the test or a positive reading will result in refusal
to race.
05/03/07 Following the instances of verbal abused hurled at the
Booking In secretary last week it is time to remind members that all the
committee and other helpers do so voluntarily in their own spare time
and such behaviour will not be tolerated. In future Booking In
will be modified slightly i.e.
On the Tuesday preceding the race meeting at 18:29 ALL outstanding voice
mail messages will be deleted from the phone. At 18:30 onwards the
phone will NOT be answered but all calls will go to voicemail. The
voicemails will be listened to and the relevant riders will be booked
in. It is your responsibility to ring and book in as soon as possible,
if it is engaged or the voicemail is full then keep trying. Riders who
ring after 40 have been booked in will be added to a reserve list and
notified by phone of such, at which time the secretary does not expect
to receive any abuse. Remember that membership of the club does not
automatically guarantee a ride as was stated on the
membership form.
21/02/07 Will Auto parents please note that we only allow
bikes fitted with the original size wheels, i.e. KTM 50s arriving at
scrutineering with big wheels will fail. This is as per
YMSA
rules.
If riders
wish to be scored at championship meetings then it is their responsibility
to ensure the numbers applied
are the correct size and colour, the same on all the plates(!) and, in wet
and muddy conditions bibs with numbers on must be worn.
07/02/07 Everyone wishing to ride needs to book in, remember the first 40 to
ring-in in each group will ride. Visitors will be allowed, space
permitting, and will be notified on Friday evening. This year
Road&Race Suspension will be in
attendance at most of our meetings. When you receive your 2007 YMSA rule
books please also refer to our
amendments, especially regarding exhaust systems.
The local Air Ambulance (who we have called out twice in recent years) can
now be supported through their clothes recycling banks. Check
here to find where they are.
17/01/07 Thank you to the club members who attended the AGM.
The issues debated and their conclusions were:
1. The subject of splitting 2strokes and 4strokes scoring: There will be
no change.
2. Ties on final championship points: In future any ties will be resolved
by counting back on the number of 45pts scored on the day and then 43 pts
etc if still tied.
3. Overall Club Champion: In future there will be an adult champion and a
youth champion to be calculated using the final championship points
weighted by the size of the race entries over the season.
4. Noise is a big issue and not just at Matchams: Noise checks on both 2
stroke and 4 strokes will be performed at all meetings (by picking out
bikes deemed to be loud on the track). Any failures of more than 2db over
the 96db limit will have to remedy their machine at the track to be able
to ride. Less than this, then they will be rechecked at the next meeting
when they must have been corrected to be able to ride.
5. Race Fees for 2007. Auto £20, Youth £23, Adult £30. Visitors: Auto £25,
Youth £35, Adult £40
6. Autos will be run as one mixed group.
22/03/06 Track dismantling - as
per the program - no-one will be signed out until the lorry is packed up and
ready to go, enabling the committee (who don't get paid as a few of the
weekend's track clearers seem to think) to get away at a reasonable time
too. Failure to sign out results in 50% of the points gained on the
day being lost.
20/04/05 Please
note that all races count - even incomplete blocks - as per YMSA rules. 16/03/05 Financial
Advice; if you are intending to review or adjust any part of
your financial situation, then why not help the club at the same
time? Contact
Martin Inwood an independent financial
adviser, from a local mx keen family, who will contribute part of his
commission towards club
funds. |
